Description
These lamps are made through a collaborative effort of 3 artists. Judi Rosen had been working on several projects with dyer Maggie Paxton who was experimenting with marbling ostrich eggs. The egg form set of a lightbulb (pun intended) and the image of a classic mod space age lamp popped into mind. Judi’s father is a woodworker so they began developing a base to accommodate the egg form. Ostrich eggs have a similar material feel to porcelain and take on a golden hue with the light. They dissipate heat and can stay lit for hours.
Judi Rosen is a clothing designer and owns the nolita boutique Judi Rosen New York. Maggie Paxton is a designer who has collaborated with design houses like Marc Jacobs, & Coach. Ira Rosen is a retired octogenarian & former school teacher and master crafter.
